TimberHP Takes Burlington at BBD’22
On Tuesday morning April 26th, the TimberHP sales and marketing team piled into Chief Marketing Officer Scott Dionne’s Ford F-150, U-Haul trailer in tow, and hit the road for Burlington, Vermont. Better Buildings by Design, sponsored annually by Efficiency Vermont, is the premier design and construction conference in the Northeast. This year’s theme, title, appropriately enough, Pathways to Decarbonization, featured keynote addresses and panel discussions led by nationally-recognized leaders in the fields of building technology and design—including TimberHP co-founder Matt O’Malia.
The hub of activity at BBD is the exhibition hall. Event sponsors, including TimberHP, set up display booths featuring cutting edge construction techniques and materials, equipment, and systems that deliver superior building performance, energy efficiency, and indoor air quality. Arriving mid-afternoon, the TimberHP team got right to work, tools in hand, and put together a booth designed weeks in advance. The centerpiece, an 8 ft. tall, 17 ft. wide wall of wood fiber insulation board, featured a flat screen TV playing our product videos and a set of enlarged slides, from the many presentations we’ve done, on the buildout of the mill, value added benefits for the forest products industry and the performance and environmental merits of TimberHP loose fill, batts and boards.
We were excited for this conference and confident it would go well, but the response we received to the TimberHP story, our products and our impending entry into the insulation market in the Northeast exceeded even our most optimistic expectations. The sales and marketing team was on its feet for two days straight! A steady stream of architects, contractors, insulation installers and others cycled through the booth to learn about wood fiber insulation, pick up a consumer brochure and handle and take away samples. Architects and installers checked their calendars while in the booth, hoping to schedule TimberHP virtual lunch and learn sessions for their respective teams. Josh Henry and Matt O’Malia joined the team in the booth on day two and, needless to say, we needed the extra bodies on the floor!
Matt brought TimberHP’s 2022 BBD appearance to a successful close with his presentation as part of the “Northeast Leadership in the Decarbonization of Building Products” panel discussion. Conference attendees who signed up at the booth to receive our consumer newsletter were entered into a drawing for a Maine-made TimberHP cribbage board. After his presentation, Matt drew the winning name. Congratulations to Heather Fontaine of ReArch Company! Enjoy all those 15s, and hopefully, a few double and triple runs here and there!!
